Our History

Dalby Chemist story started with the GP’s in the Myall Medical practice designing a building with the concept of being a complete health destination in Dalby.

Initially, as well as the large medical practice with many GP’s working and training medical students, the destination also had an imaging (X-Ray etc), Pathology, and an Allied Health centre (Physiotherapy, Psychology, Hearing Audiologist, etc).

From the beginning there was always a plan to put a pharmacy into the centre, however government regulation did not allow this to start.

In November 2018, the rules regarding relocation and opening new pharmacies changed, and a pharmacy application was submitted in early 2019, but with the very strict regulations it did not get approval.

Before this initial application, Michael Watson, who owned a pharmacy in Jandowae, reached out to the doctors at Myall Medical expressing interest in opening a pharmacy there. However, since another pharmacist was already working on and submitting the first application, no further action could be taken.

With the first application failing, and the experience of hindsight, Michael and his family moved in Dalby and worked closely with the doctors through 2019, submitted a new application and an approval was given on the 18th December 2020 for a new chemist to be able to open at the Myall Medical Precent.

With a lot of planning and hard work the new Dalby Chemist opened its door to trade, with rain pouring outside and a flood in the middle of Dalby, on the 10th February 2020.
